Heh, I finally got Mefied! I thought there must be a reason why I was suddenly getting so many helpful comments on building an MP3 bed.
Only damn problem now is… Metafilter membership is still closed. I’ve been trying to sign up for a few months now, unsuccesfully (actually, I probably have an account hanging around from a couple of years back, but damned if I can remember the login details). Somebody from Metafilter please give me an account. Pretty please.

Metafilter’s membership has been closed for years, which is sad, because it is sorely in need of some different opinions.
It seems that the metafilter site has been down for a couple days now… Maybe when they get back online they’ll be in sore need of new users! While I find it almost irresistable to visit, the daily check to see if membership has “re-opened” is starting to wear on me… Its like waiting in line
outside some club - - it’s everyone standing there waiting to get in that creates the appeal… once you get in, it’s usually nothing that special.
I’ll have to check out this so-called monkeyfilter… sounds interesting!
I joined MeFi by mistake! Like you, I was visiting every day to see if the membership was open, then, one day - bang! - it was! Took me by surprise, I can tell you!
I don’t post much though. Put a toe out of line and those guys’ll eat you for breakfast!
