Fun coincidences #5763:
For some reason, I started thinking about vacuum cleaners the other day. I forget what prompted it, and in which order my thoughts came, but I do remember thinking about the old globe-shaped hoover we had as a kid, how kind of central it seems to my memory of the house (probably because I was on a level with it most of the time) and whether Lola will grow up with similar ground-level memories of our little Dyson.
Then tonight, I was just quickly scanning through a few blog sites, and on Boing Boing I found a link to a wonderful array of hoovers, including our very own space-age globe-sucker. I’m not sure whether ours was the 1964 ivory/pale green (I think it was) or the 1970s ivory/royal blue - I actually remember it as being kind of turquoise.
Sweet memories of sucking my thumb in front of the coffee table. Everything was turquoise in those days. Everything.
