For my first two or three years at secondary school, we only had one machine between approx. 1,000 pupils (a Research Machines). Us “computer club” members used to take turns every lunchtime to sit in the office and type in programs.

Usually of the variety that ended with:
20 GOTO 10

10 PRINT I miss the old BBC Micro, although the sound of the tapes still haunts me.

We used to have a Micro B at home, and a lesser model at school – it still amuses me that back in those days there used to be 20 or so kids all sat, horseshoe chair arrangement, round a screen – and in my last year of primary school a similar arrangement hanging round a 386 that'd been donated to us by Avesta Sheffield.

I love this poem =)
a man OR a woman, noticed- just not noticed enough. obviously an egomaniac/megalomaniac..
I can't believe they are taking it out the AQA GCSE syllabus just because it seems to violent and the book contains the image of a knife. There are far worse poems in the book…

this poem is a powerful piece of emotive writing, it displays a person (of unknown gender as we are not told whether it is a male or female) who appears to have a delusion of grandeur believing they can play god. I believe it is a true poem describing the sheer terrifying truth of the inside mind of a killer I believe it is a truly brilliant piece of poetry and deserves to be more recognised for the genius of the mind that created it.

And to the people who are being stupid on this site, just stop now, you ar just showing yourselves to be stupidly uneducated in the brilliance of literature.

the other thing about blogging, Dan, is that it means people like me who follow blogs using Google Reader read you… I don't do Facebook, MySpace or Twitter, but I do read a lot of blogs, and it's nice to have my mates in there with the anthropology journals, urban culture sites, and all.
