Saturday 27th June

Visited what may become our new home in Sheffield for the first time - an amazing place, bit overwhelming as to how to put it to good use, but good use is definitely what it's there for - like a normal decent-sized house with strange locations bolted on all over it - the cellar rooms beneath, the huge old garage/workshop on the side, complete with kit car, the workroom with its huge mediaeval-looking wooden bench and the feel of a mad-professor's laboratory, the various attic rooms with views towards woods and hills, the kitchen four-times the size of our current one and complete with Aga stove, the garden, with it's extra garage, its overgrown plant-life and its stream - plenty of room to breathe, and room to experiment with.

I remember loving places like this as a child - loads of hidden corners to explore, fantasy landscapes to populate. Rowan seemed to like it, depite being a little freaked out by the cellar. Plus living just down the road from her cousing Beth (and close to lots of potential babysitters) will be handy.

Now, we just have to find some money......

Monday 29th June

.... and make our current house suitable for sale.....

Gill beat me hands down on this side of things today, giving the kitchen a whole new look with a touch of paint and sticky-back plastic. My excuse was that I was ready to go first thing in the morning, but things dragged out, and by the afternoon I'd lost my enthusiasm. Still, managed to recover enough of it to tackle the growing rust problem around the bathroom window. We really have to neaten things up around here if we want to move fast....

.... back to work....
